Insisting on the Hope for Peace in the 2026 Elections in Colombia
Day of Prayer and Action for Peace in Colombia Pentecost, May 24, 2026 “The fruit of righteousness will be peace and the outcome of righteousness, calm and security forever.” Isaiah 32:17 In Colombia, the long and bloody conflict we have experienced leads some members of society to insist on the hope that peace can be achieved through dialogue and the pursuit of justice. Other sectors, especially political and economic ones, seem to prefer continuing an armed conflict that has produced millions of victims in the last six decades. In recent years, this tension has been evident as we have oscillated between the hope of achieving peace and the frustration of rejecting it, which seems to suggest a preference for war.
